THE ALCHEMIST

Book review: "THE ALCHEMIST" (1988)
"And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it."
By Paulo Coelho, originally written in Portuguese and translated worldwide as a best seller, The Alchemist, is a journey of spirituality, fiction, magic, beliefs, adventure, quest, omens, believing in oneself, soul of the universe and pursuing your dreams!
I won't give any spoiler alert by discussing about the story or plot, but I'll talk about the themes and lessons given in the book. It is definitly not a book for surface readers, but, if you are an old soul, continue reading.
It revolves around a boy Santiago who is seeking his dream. During the whole journey, the CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT is tremendous. It shows that even before the destination, a man learns most if the things on the road to success. Paulo emphasizes on believing in OMENS and listening to one's heart no matter if it leads to some risks. FOLLOWING YOUR DREAMS is the prominent lesson we learn in the book, and it is the MAKTAB which drives us towards the dreams.
"It's the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting."
It further emphasizes on listening to the INNER SELF and the power of prayers and spirituality that can turn impossibles into possibles. Paulo further describes the positive aspects of LOVE that it makes everything better and magical.
And the QUOTES, it has the finest deal of quotes if you are person obsessed with reading and diving into deep things. With an amazing blend of contradictions of desert and oasis, union and departure, success and failure, it has everything you want in a GOOD book.
"And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second's encounter with God and with eternity."
